Design Case Study: Philip Martin ACT Prep

Updated: May 5, 2023

At Parrot Digital, we love to work with businesses of all kinds, but some of our favorite clients are entrepreneurs who are all about helping others.

Recently, we had the pleasure of working with Philip Martin, who is one of those people.

He runs an ACT test prep service that teaches all four subjects: reading, writing, math, and science. However, his logo, brand, and website didn't reflect what he has to offer.

Here's his original website, for reference:

Our first step was to design a new brand for Philip. We wanted something that felt bold and confident, but still professional and approachable as well. We went with warm tones and clear, sans-serif fonts.

Then we put together some logo drafts. After some back and forth, we settled on this logo, clearly depicting his ability to teach in all four subjects:

Next, it was time to re-design the site. After about 5 full days of work, we presented him with the new and improved philipmartinact.com (click the link to see the full site yourself!).

Philip was beyond thrilled! The site is a huge improvement over his old site, and he's already seeing the impact in his business.

There was one more project left though.

Philip published an ACT prep book, but it didn't match his new brand, and looked a little unprofessional.

This is what it looked like:

The original. It needed some help.

We designed a couple of new book covers options for him, and they came together well:

Option #1

Option #2

Huge increase!

In about two weeks, Philip had a brand new look for his business, that looked far more professional, competent, and attractive. It's only been a couple weeks, but his site traffic has increased almost 1000% percent! To be fair, he was getting almost no traffic before.

It was a real pleasure helping Philip out. If your business needs an online makeover too, don't hesitate to get in touch with us!
